QUALCOMM's Eudora Internet Suite (formerly known as pdQsuite) is a collection of applications for the Palm Computing platform, including a Web browser, E-Mail, and synchronization utility that allows users to sync their desktop E-Mail with their Palm based device. The E-Mail and Web browsing components can be used with most existing ISPs with no special configuration required, and make use of existing Web protocols to retrieve and display E-Mail documents and Web pages in their native formats.
Eudora Web browser, the Web browsing component of the suite, contains many common features such as forward/backward navigation through sites, bookmarking capabilities, and direct links to the E-Mail program (i.e., mailto links automatically open a new message in the E-Mail application). Like desktop browsers, using Eudora Web browser the user can scroll and view Web pages before they have finished downloading.
Eudora for the Palm Computing Platform works with all POP3 E-Mail servers, meaning that the same E-Mail that users retrieve through their desktops can be managed through their Palm computing devices. It also includes many standard features of E-Mail packages from desktops, including sorting, filtering, signatures, and integration with the browser (for viewing embedded links).
The final application in the package, Eudora Mail Conduit, allows users to synchronize their desktop E-Mail messages with the messages stored on their Palm device. The Eudora Conduit is available only for the Windows 95/98/NT platform, and the free version syncs only with the Eudora E-Mail client.
EIS is available free with full functionality to Eudora users, whether they are running Eudora in free (ad supported) or registered mode. An additional "unlimited sync" option, allowing users to synchronize to "...most other desktop email programs," is available for $29.95.
