Big Faceless Organization (BFO) provides multiple class libraries and components--available separately--for Java developers who wish to add capabilities to their applications. Free trials/demos are available.
Current offerings from BFO include:
- The Big Faceless Graph Library is a Java class library for creating graphs and charts. It is backed by a full 3D engine, allowing you to create shaded 3D pie, bar, and line graphs as GIF, PDF, PNG, or other image formats. Its features include transparent backgrounds, axes to graph dates, currencies, custom fonts, and spline curve fitting. A 30 day free trial is available.
- The Big Faceless Java PDF library is a Java class library for creating and editing Acrobat PDF documents on-the-fly. With the Extended Edition, users can create or edit interactive PDF Acroforms, digitally sign PDF documents, and import and edit existing PDF documents.
The Big Faceless PDF Library allows unlimited parties to edit, sign and time stamp documents to authenticate them. The PDF Library contains both encryption and decryption features. Other features include:
- Transparent Unicode support
- TrueType and Type1 fonts, with subsetting for smaller files
- Embed JPEG, PNG, GIF, TIFF or java.awt.Image images, or add Barcodes directly to the PDF
- Process 1000+ words a second with kerning, ligatures, justification and "curly quotes"
- Full support for PDF features like bookmarks, compression and document meta-information
PDF Library can be run using EJBs, Servlets or JSPs on Windows, UNIX, or any other system running Java 1.2, 1.3 or 1.4.
- The Big Faceless Report Generator is a Java application for converting source documents written in XML to PDF. Built on top of the Big Faceless PDF and Graph Libraries, the Report Generator combines these features and wraps an XML parser around them.
