NetObjects Authoring Server for Java Server Pages (NAS for JSP) is the latest advancement in the NetObjects Authoring Server Suite. It will allow developers and designers at all levels of expertise to collaborate on the overall Java based application by providing a visual environment within which each team member can contribute to the project based on their own skill set. Administrators and project leaders will find within NAS the centralized control they need to manage the overall workflow among the development team members.
Though the product is based on Windows NT, Web applications developed with it can be ported to multiple Java Application Servers, including IBM WebSphere, BEA WebLogic, and the iPlanet Application Server. The product contains ready to use drop-in components, Java Servlets, and JavaBeans that allow developers to easily add common application functions such as authentication and database access to their pages. Developers can extend these components by making use of the NetObjects Component Development Kit; once developed, these components can be added to pages by designers using simple drag-n-drop technology.
NAS for JSP is expected to be available in the first quarter of 2000.
