WebGain, Inc.'s flagship product is WebGain Studio--a Web application development environment that is tightly integrated with leading Web application servers and includes technologies licensed and/or purchased from Sun, Macromedia, BEA, and Symantec.
Webgain studio provides a comprehensive toolset focusing specifically on each phase of Java application development. The authoring tool is an HTML editing environment based on Macromedia's Dreamweaver Ultradev 4 which is integrated with the application server and allows for the creation and editing of Java Server Pages. WebGain VisualCafe (purchased from Symantec) provides wizard based Java development tools including authoring and debugging.
Other modules in the studio include WebGain StructureBuilder for UML Modeling and auto generation of EJB components; and version 4.1 of WebGain Studio added the TurboXML support module, which provides a suite of XML related functions, including creation, validation, and conversion. Version 4.5 inserted the WebGain Quality Analyzer, providing developers with quality and performance measurement tools such as the "Audit" application for examining source code for errors, weaknesses, or style inconsistencies and the "Cover" module that collects method/statement execution counts from Java apps anywhere on the network.
Version 4.5.2 of WebGain Studio removed the separately available Professional and Standard versions of the product and rolled them together into a single offering.
WebGain Studio 4.5.2 is now available, however, WebGain has announced that they have ceased the further development of their tools and seek to sell all of their assets (see related link below). WebGain states that they will continue to support their product line until the individual products have been sold.
