ImageShark

ImageShark offers dynamic image presentation and manipulation features for Windows (IIS) based servers. An ISAPI (Internet Server Application Program Interface) extension DLL, the program allows developers to create sites with interactive imaging controls through the use of CGI-like requests in HTML pages. With the CGI interface, developers can offer options to site visitors allowing them to zoom, pan, or scan images selected for viewing; as well as apply user specified enhancements to images such as increasing sharpness or blur, changing the image's dimensions, or flipping the image horizontally or vertically, among other capabilities.

In addition to its ability to provide image manipulation controls to site visitors, ImageShark can also automatically generate thumbnail preview interfaces for directories of images on the server. For multi-page TIFFs, ImageShark creates a complete interface for the user allowing them to both view and scroll an existing page as well as jump from page to page by clicking the page thumbnails. For other image formats, the tool provides a horizontal or vertical "film strip" like preview of auto-generated thumbnailed images that can be scrolled and selected by the user for further viewing.

ImageShark works with over 30 different image formats, auto converting them to browser friendly forms as necessary. Though installed on Windows/IIS based Web servers, its CGI interface means that the functions it provides are available to all site visitors regardless of platform or browser. Additional features of the tool include server side caching of generated images and support for custom watermark application to generated images.
