StillMotion Creator allows you to create animated "video" shots from existing digital still photographs. Using the tool, a photographer or designer can emulate an "Animation Stand:" applying pan, zoom, and rotate effects to existing photographs as if a separate video camera was actually filming the pic itself. The resulting animation is then output in the popular Flash SWF file format, and can therefore be viewed by anyone with the free Flash player. Additionally, the Plus and Pro versions of the software support movies outputted in the AVI format.
Movie animations created with StillMotion Creator are comparable in size to the original still photograph itself; adding only 10-12 bytes per frame in the finished file. According to data provided by ImageMatics, this means that an additional 600 bytes of data per pic can produce a full minute's worth of animation.
Initially, three versions of StillMotion Creator are being made available, with the ability to process images of up to 4kx4k pixels and create movies up to about 9 minutes in length. Up to 64 pics can be used as input, with JPG, TFF, TGA, or BMP formats supported. The standard version of the software supports only Flash (SWF) output, while the Plus and Pro version add support for AVI. The Plus version is limited to AVI resolutions of 400x400 or less; while the Pro version supports unlimited resolutions. Pricing is set at $99.95 for the standard version; $149.95 for Plus and $249.95 for Pro.
