NetVIOS as a Web site operating platform is an ASP server-side component that provides a base for your Web applications and features. NetVIOS comes with a built-in site member system and publishes essential functions such as the user or member system, resource access and security system, look and GUI system, help system etc. that is necessary to operate a Web site and is used by the Web site's applications. Then, Web applications adopt these functions without duplicating them. Applications that are specifically made for NetVIOS are therefore quicker, cheaper and integrate with the site. There is no multiple logins, different looks, and duplicate methods of doing things depending on the provider of each application. This is similar to what the PC operaing system provides for PC-based applications.
Several free applications are available and include a chat, messageboard, site events calendar, site-wide instant messenger, news application etc. NetVIOS has features to create and maintain either a portal site or a simple information site with little programming knowledge.
