MyVoiceGenie is a desktop VoiceXML engine targeted primarily to developers. It provides developers with a means to test their VoiceXML applications directly within their Windows based desktop environments, without requiring the loading of the application on an external network and placing a call to that network to activate the application.
The platform leverages Microsoft's SAPI provided via a freely downloadable SpeechSDK (included within Windows XP), which includes TTS and ASR engines and API access to program them. User VoiceXML files can be loaded into the engine by incorporating them as part of the "home.vxml" page automatically loaded when the engine is started. Once loaded, the user can interact with the VoiceXML files and their embedded commands via their own PC microphone and speakers. Remote VXML files can also be accessed by the engine, provided the user has the Apache Web server installed.
In addition to processing VoiceXML files, MyVoiceGenie also includes a VoiceXML validator, allowing developers to easily identify syntax errors in their code. Separate services, such as the Apache Web server and Tomcat can also be monitored and controlled from within the MyVoiceGenie interface.
Certain features of the program are unavailable in the initial Beta release, with the vendor stating they will be enabled with the full 1.0 release of the product. Some of these features include VoiceXML file import; the ability to view logging information, such as error logs; and the ability to add VoiceXML applications to the main menu. Additionally, VoiceGenie states that version 1.0 of the engine will include support for VoiceXML 2.0.
The free 0.9 beta release of MyVoiceGenie (registration with the VoiceGenie developer's network required) is available now. VoiceGenie states that the first commercial release (1.0) is expected to be priced at $995. Contact VoiceGenie for further details.
