TPS/NetWork File Manager (NFM) is designed to distribute files and other resources throughout a corporation's internal network. The file transfer mechanism allows files to be managed through a central server with distribution taking place from server to client or among clients (peer-to-peer) and it has many-to-one/one-to-many capabilities. The distribution can be on-demand or via scheduled plans through a browser interface. The format of Plans is similar to IBM's NetView Data Manager (NVDM). NFM also has the ability to handle TCP/IP and SNA traffic concurrently.
Encryption and compression make the transfer secure and enhance transmission speeds. Since NFM can act on return codes, multiple step plans can be initiated and files handled based on the completiton codes of previous steps.
Other important features include IP Multicasting, Modem Pooling, Bandwith Management, Streaming File Transfers, Check-point Restart, System security, and Extensive auditing capabilities. The use of the trickle feature allows for near real-time transfer of data.
The Client software runs on AIX, Sun Solaris, HP-UX, SCO, Linux, Java, and Windows. There is also Client support for the 4690, S/390 mainframe, and the Stratus. The Server software runs on AIX, Linux, HP-UX, Sun and Windows.
