Web Chameleon

Ulead's Web Chameleon is a two component system that allows organizations to create page templates that can be utilized by the server in real time in order to deliver existing site content formatted specifically for display on handheld and/or wireless devices.

The first component of the system is the Page Customization Tool. Available for Windows 98/Me/2000 systems with a Java 2 Runtime and IE 5.5, this tool provides a visual interface that allows designers to drag-n-drop components from the original Web page into a page template that can then be used in the transformation of the content for display in mobile devices. The Customization Tool provides an instant preview feature, allowing the designer to see what the resulting page would look like on specific devices as they add and manipulate the objects in the interface.

The second component, the Transformation Proxy Server, runs on a Windows 2000 machine with a Java 2 Runtime and processes information requests received from individual devices. The Proxy Server uses the templates created via the Page Customization Tool in order to display information properly for the specific device detected. The proxy server automatically detects multiple devices, and additionally allows the ability to add new device types as necessary (Advanced Version only).

Web Chameleon is available now in two flavors. The Personal Community Edition is for single domain use and begins at $5,000; while the Advanced Edition is targeted at larger organizations and begins at $25,000. Contact Ulead for further information.
